Although this post is about the infamous little black dress (LBD), it is really about the accessories I paired with the dress I thrifted last week. A flawless classic black jersey dress from Tristan, with the cutest (slightly) puff sleeve, a pleated fabric covered button front and the most flattering skirt, for its length and movement. The other reason I love this dress is because it only cost me $8.00 (insert explosion emoji here)! I paired it with a gifted and one of my most treasured accessories, a large real snakeskin gold buckle belt. I think it makes the dress pop. I also paired it with my hardly worn Chanel sling back shoes, which I keep for special occasions. Any classic black pump will do, but other edgier options include, croc ankle boots (like these I purchased last winter and haven’t had a chance to wear yet), strappy heels, cowboy boots (the latest trend), or knee-high boots, either in leather or suede.
While I do not advocate purchasing an abundance of new clothes, thrift shopping can be time consuming, so one may need/want to purchase new online or at a retail store. For me, my thrift shopping philosophy is about building a timeless wardrobe slowly and purchasing only the best of the best. That said, I have nevertheless curated a few black dresses below, options for you, that I think would pair nicely with a statement belt (see options further below).
